  • Phase 1 – Prelims examination is of objective type.
  • Phase 2 – Mains exam is of written type.
  • Phase 3 – Interview

Negative marking of 0.25 will be deducted in the prelims examination.

PHASE 1 – PRELIMINARY EXAMINATION

You will face the preliminary exam first which is an objective test of 100 Marks. The question will be based on following parts:

  • Constitution of India
  • Code of Civil Procedure
  • Code of Criminal Procedure
  • Evidence Code
  • Indian Penal Code
  • Limitation Act
  • Transfer of Property Act
  • Contract Act
  • Law of Succession (Indian Succession Act and Hindu Succession Act)
  • Specific Relief Act

NOTE : The Commission shall call the eligible candidates for main written examination who have secured not less than 35% of marks in case of Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates and 40% of marks in case of others in the preliminary written examination.

PHASE 2 – MAINS EXAMINATION

The main written examination shall be on the following:

  • Two compulsory papers
  • Three optional papers.

Each of the compulsory subjects shall carry 150 marks and each of the optional subjects shall carry 150 marks.1. COMPULSORY EXAMINATION

The exam is conducted under the two papers:PAPER I – GENREAL ENGLISH (150 MARKS)

  • Translation and retranslation of ten lines each
  • A short essay of about 150 words
  • Precis writing consisting of 300 words
  • one passage of about 500 words with 5 questions

NOTE: ‘’Translation and retranslation of ten lines each”,there will be two passages,i.e.one in English to be translated into Odia and another in Odia to be retranslated into English.PAPER II – PROCEDURAL LAWS (150 MARKS)

  • The Code of Criminal Procedure, 1973
  • The Code of Civil Procedure, 1908
  • The Indian Evidence Act, 1872

2. OPTIONAL PAPERS (100 MARKS)

A candidate may choose any of the three subjects from the following :

  • 1. Law of Crime & Law of Torts-150M
  • 2. Personal Law-150M
    • Hind Law
    • Mohammedan Law
  • 3. Law of Property-150M
    • Transfer of Property Act, 1882
    • Specific Relief Act, 1963
    • Indian Limitation Act, 1963
  • 4. Law of Contract-150M
    • Indian Contract Act, 1872
    • Sales of Goods Act, 1930
    • Partnership Act, 1932
    • Negotiable Instrument Act, 1881
  • 5. Jurisprudence and Constitution of India

PHASE 3 – INTERVIEW

  • Interview will carry 100 Marks.
  • Minimum 40% of marks are required.
